About us

Background – The company was established in 1996 by managing director Edward Burgess. Operating initially from a small showroom in Felixstowe, the business outgrew the premises and relocated to a larger site in Notcutts Garden Centre, Woodbridge. Growth in product demand necessitated expansion in showroom coverage to include premises in Fornham St. Martin near Bury St. Edmunds and Ingatestone in Essex. The Burgess Group now employs more than twenty local people and continues to enjoy sustained annual growth.

Our three showrooms across East Anglia provide customers with a convivial atmosphere and environment in which to discover the most advanced timber, aluminium and PVCu window and door solutions.

What we do – Our fundamental business is the supply and installation of factory finished, high performance timber windows and doors to domestic properties across East Anglia.

To complement our timber products we also offer high quality aluminium sliding and bifold doors and elegant PVCu windows and doors. Every window and door we install is bespoke, with thoughtful design and is correctly proportioned, to enhance the architectural integrity of our customers homes. Very little can detract from the appearance and value of a property more than ill-fitting or badly designed windows.

Our experienced designers, surveyors and conscientious administration and installation teams will ensure a seamless experience from entering the showroom to installation.

Customer Service – Our success is due entirely to the quality of service we provide which ensures customer satisfaction. We are very honoured that a significant proportion of our business is generated by customer recommendation.

Discover our product range – Our showrooms provide a platform for us to be able to showcase a wide range of our products with many windows and doors framed in displays to emulate customer’s homes.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff look forward to meeting you and are always pleased to answer questions and offer advice if required. We would always encourage a visit to one of our showrooms before inviting us to provide a quotation, as close up physical examination of our products gives so much more detail about quality than a brochure or portfolio can ever provide.

How we work – After visiting one of our showrooms to view our product range we offer a free initial consultation in which we would assess your requirements and discuss the options in terms of product and finish. We then email or post a detailed quotation for your consideration.

The reassurance of an independent endorsement

Your installation is as equally important as the design and performance of your windows and doors.

To reinforce this commitment to quality, The Burgess Group have achieved a BSI Kitemark Licence for the survey and installation of windows and doors.

The benefits to you are the reassurance that your windows and doors will be measured and installed by trained, qualified survey and installation personnel that are extensively assessed by BSI on an ongoing basis to ensure standards never decline.

As a BSI Kitemark Licensed company, your installations will be registered through BSI and the relevant Building Regulation Certificate issued to you by The Burgess Group.

The Kitemark scheme for the survey and installation of windows and doors covers a wide variety of aspects including:

DESIGN: Checks are made to ensure the windows and doors are correct for their intended use.

SURVEYING: To ensure the windows and doors will fit and open correctly. Covers risk assessments on the installation process.

INSTALLATION PRACTICE: Including the safe removal of old windows, fixing and sealing of frames, glazing of sealed units and finishing detail.

STAFF TRAINING: Surveyors and fitters must demonstrate that they are properly trained and competent.

PROPERTY CARE: To avoid damage to furniture, floor coverings and needless damage to decorations.

BUILDING REGULATIONS COMPLIANCE: Including fire, thermal efficiency and safety glazing.

MATERIAL QUALITY: Checks to ensure windows, doors, glass, sealants and fittings meet the required quality standards.

INSPECTION: To check that the installed windows and doors close and seal properly and have not been damaged during installation.

We offer our customers clear guarantees on our products and workmanship. Having started trading in 1996 we have a credible track record. All the same never resting on our laurels we provide our customers with complete peace of mind through our membership of the Independent Warranty Association. Through the IWA we offer our customers an insurance backed guarantee and deposit indemnity covering our installations in the unlikely event we were to cease trading.

The Burgess Group is a FENSA registered company which enables us to certify your window and door installation is compliant under current building regulations without the need for a separate assessment from building control.
